“Your Memories Are Lies XXIX: Love & Always Awake” is an oil painting by the talented artist Tyler Tilley. It is a tribute to Salvador Dali’s famous quote, “I don’t do drugs; I am drugs.”
The painting portrays a surreal story that challenges the boundaries of reality and imagination. It features a balding man emerging from a cardboard box, with a demon attacking an apple on his head, a samurai sword piercing through his head, and a blue jay carrying the sword’s string to a homemade mobile.
The mobile is adorned with iconic figures, from Jesus to R2D2. At the bottom, the word “Love” is spelt out in ransom lettering, and an old TV floats away carried by butterflies. The painting draws inspiration from surreal masters of the past.
